Birmingham

Considered to be the UK's second city, Birmingham's reputation was forged as the head of the Industrial Revolution in Britain, which led to Birmingham being celebrated as the "city of a thousand trades" or "the workshop of the world".

The city of Birmingham attracts more than 40% of the United Kingdom's conference trade. Employing over 1000,000 people in industry, Birmingham is an important engineering and manufacturing centre and contributes billions of pounds to the economy. More than a quarter of exports from the UK originate from Birmingham.

Products include electrical equipment, chemicals, motor vehicles, food, jewellery, weapons, plastics, machine tools, and glass. Scientific research (including the University of Birmingham's research into nanotechnology) is expanding in the city. Birmingham has more than five hundred law firms, and is Europe's second largest insurance market.

Birmingham's economy has expanded into tourism, conference hosting, service industries and retailing, which are now the major employers in the city.

Conference Centres

The ICC is one of the leading conference and event venues in the UK. With 11 halls and 10 executive meetings room, the ICC and can cater for small groups and large groups of up to 3000. The ICC offers a comprehensive range of audio-visual equipment, sound systems and lighting control, with a support team of fully-trained technicians. Onsite catering is available, with a team of award-winning chefs in-house.

The National Exhibition Centre has extensive conferencing facilities, with 44 rooms and facilities for delegates from groups of 20 to 700, and is the largest exhibition centre in the UK. The NEC has a dedicated hospitality team, technical support and a range of on-site accommodation.

The Orange Studio is an innovative conferencing centre, with 11 flexible meeting rooms available, catering from 15 to 200 delegates, and a conference and events team on-site.
